Generally spoken: Use common sense and don't be a dick, and we're good.
§1 – Do not spoil the game.
Do not post solutions or level related links (to levels, level images, easter eggs, ...), things you found in the source code or
usernames and passwords in the channel. Also do not discuss level details in public (e.g. 'hey about level x, I figured out I need
to decrypt the rot26 code, but where do i put it?'). If you want to talk about a level, keep that to private chats (queries).
§2 – Do not randomly query people.
Ask for help in the channel and wait for someone to respond who is willing to help you. Example: 'can I query someone about
level x?' or 'I found something in level x, can someone check if I am on the right track?'
If nobody answers right away, please be patient. The vast majority of people in #notpron does not play anymore, people might not be
in the mood to help, are busy, have a conversation etc. - but feel free to stick around with us. You'll probably get help at some point.
§3 – Links
If you want to link to something that could be considered nsfw, please 'tag' the link accordingly ('nsfw: www.sex.com'). If
the content is graphic, ...you get the point. Do not link to illegal material.
§4 – Speak English
People in #notpron are from all over the world, so please be polite and speak English, so that everyone can understand what you say.
§5 – General behaviour
Be nice. Mind the netiquette. Don't yell at people, don't troll, and treat others like you want to be treated yourself. Respect QuakeNet rules.
Useful stuff
You can request official level hints with the !hint command, for example !hint 15 for level 15 hints (this works for levels between 1 and 79 and hints sent as IRC /notice, so if you can't see them, look at your server/status window)
Likewise, to get the link to a level thread on the official forums, we have the !thread command, for example !thread 15 (this works for all levels)
type /query <nickname> <message> (without < > ) to query (private message) someone, e.g. /query TheDude29 Hi, how are you?
type /nick <new nick> (without < > ) to change your nickname, e.g. /nick Marito123 your nickname can be up to 15 chars in length on QuakeNet, must not begin with a numeric or hyphen (-) and can contain the following characters: 0-9 a-z \ [ ] ^ _ ` { | } -
